From trash to art
Every year surfers lose surfboard fins, while surfing on the famous Eisbach riverwave in Munich (Germany), when their surfboards smash against the surrounding walls during wipeouts. Fortunately, a local diver recovers the fins regulary and I clean, spray-paint and illustrate them to give them a second life as “Sunken Fins”, which can only be described as unique and beautiful pieces of artwork.
Every Sunken Fin – table clock includes:
- the upcycled surfboard fin
- clockwork + clock hands
- handmade fin holder
- hand-sewn fin bag out of high-quality cork fabric
- if you orderd a fin holder: an organic cork box with a beautifully engraved wooden top
- an overall sustainable packaging

The sunken fin will be delivered in an elaborated gift-box styled package, which is not only completely plastic free, but also vegan, organic, recyclable and/or biodegradable. If possible, the materials were orderd from small manufaturing companies in Europe. All pieces are also hand-sewn, hand-dyed and engraved by the artist.

A certificate of authenticity confirms that the artwork has been created by the artist. It is tied to only 1 piece and follows it throughout the artwork’s life. It never expires. With every Sunken Fin you’ll receive a certificate printed on a very elegant natural paper with 100% recycled content with visible, natural fibre inclusions.

Please consider that you won’t buy a shiny new product but an upcycled one – every fin varies and comes with visual signs of wear (because the fins broke out of the fin holder!). Some fin bases were visually “repaired” by combining the fins with wood but none of the fins can be used for surfing anymore!
