Recovered from the Eisbachwelle

Upcycled Surfboard Fins

It all began when I saw a local diver at my home surf spot, the Eisbachwelle in Munich, recovering drowned and broken surfboard fins from the ground of the riverbed. When he told me that there is basically no other use for the fins, because they are already damaged and cannot be repaired easily, I wanted to give them a second life as unique, upcycled pieces of beautiful artwork. The idea of Sunken Fins was born. Some surfboard fins are still in good shape, some are repaired by adding pieces of wood and all of them have some signs of use, which tell stories about their former life and make every piece unique.

Hand-made sustainable packaging

Because I wanted to give the Sunken Fins the presentation they deserve, I’ve manufactured an engaging packaging that comes with every Sunken Fin and Original Surfboard Fin. All the pieces are somehow hand-made, hand-sewn, engraved, hand-dyed, assembled by me and provide an extraordinary unboxing experience not only for

yourself but also for everybody you would like to get a special gift to. You even have the possibility to add a handwritten greeting card and send it directly to the recipient. Hover on the different elements and learn more about the different materials I am using.

that only 0,9% of the 26 million tonnes of cotton produced annually are organic cotton?

(almost) Plastic-Free Packaging

I am proud to say that I can offer you an almost plastic-free packaging – globally! Right now, the Sunken Fins, Original Surfboard Fins and also all apparel items are shipped in a completely plastic free package. Not completely plastic-free is the packaging of Fine Art Prints and Fine Art Greeting Cards. Fine Art Prints will arrive in an extra strong and durable cardboard tube for protection and contain recycled plastic lids on both ends. Fine Art Greeting Cards are transported in a biodegradable OPP bag. In the future I hope that there will be even better solutions to pack the Fine Art Products completely plastic free.

No harm to animals

PETA – approved vegan

As a huge animal lover, I am delighted to say that my products are vegan and that all apparel items are also PETA-certified vegan and cruelty free, which means that the product was developed without any test on animals and contains no animal derived ingredients.

…that vegan products do not include any animal derived ingredients BUT might still have been tested on animals.

Because paper is not just paper…

Highest-Quality for Fine Art Prints

Hahnemühle is one of the oldest paper manufacturers in Germany and is widely known for producing exceptional high-quality products for professionals in the fields of arts and science. The 310gsm German Etching paper offers a clearly defined yet smooth surface and meets most standards concerning age-resistance. The special inkjet coating makes it possible to guarantee excellent reproduction of colors, details and contrasts. The paper is used globally for all of my Fine Art Prints.

Made from agro-industrial waste

More than 30% of the 120gms envelopes are made of recycled content and an additional 15% are even produced with agro-industrial waste products of grapes. The use of alternative resources is an important step in innovating the paper industry without lacking quality in the final products. The soft rosé color of the grape characterizes the appearance of the envelope, which has a matt and natural surface. In addition to the sustainable production the paper is also FSC certified.

100% recycled paper

The 250gms paper which is used to print the certificate of authenticity is a very elegant sustainable paper made of 100% recycled contents and with a FSC Recycled Credit. It has a warm white tone and includes visible natural fibres. If you look closely, you will understand the comparison of the manufacturer of the appearance of these inclusions to the play of snowflakes in the wind.

Reduce paper consumption wherever possible

Of course, the best way to save resources is to just reduce the consumption whenever possible. Therefore you will get documents like invoices if possible only per mail. Any additional paper documents used by production partners are either FSC certified and/or recycled.

…that each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees?
